Welcome

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.

1 Corinthians 16:13-14

Welcome and thank you for sharing your time with me.

A comprehensive instruction book for life, the Bible, a beautiful and mysterious one at that. It is a story as well, from beginning to end, with a thousand stories in the middle, somehow each connecting one to the other. A book to be read again and again revealing to the reader wisdom of old that is relevant today.

I have been reading the Bible since I was a child and somewhere in my twenties, I fell in love with it. But I did not follow it, because what strong-willed person is interested in following an instruction book when they have the aptitude to make their own way? Well that crashed and burned and broke into many, many pieces.

So here I am, God using His word to put my pieces back together with my missteps and my good steps. I am learning to be a Christ follower I need to heed the direction Paul gave to the church in Corinth. Be watchful, and He will be gracious to show me the right direction. Stand firm in faith, because life is not going to be what I planned. Kick up the brave meter, walking with Jesus is going to require some courage. And finally, move in love.

My hope is that my writing encourages you to begin your faith journey, or continue it despite life’s hurdles and hang-ups. And that perhaps it may reveal to you a little bit more about Jesus and His faithfulness to walk with us.

Blessings and Hope – Amy

Read through the Bible

For the last three years I have made a practice of reading through the Bible. I have used the Bible Gateway App and have followed the Thematic, Chronological and M’Cheyne plans. (Personally, the Thematic plan is my favorite, but each gave me insight that was unique to that plan.) In 2022, I took a bit of a break and then late in the year I dove in again, this time with the Message Bible. If you have not read through the entire Bible before, what an adventure! I strongly recommend it. You won’t be disappointed.

If this seems like a big task, it only takes 20 to 30 minutes a day. From experience, I know there will be days you linger longer, and there will be favorites to revisit. Of all things God has used to reveal Himself to me, He has used and continues to use His word the most!

Building Strong Homes Podcast with Carol Roper

In May of 2021, I had an opportunity to share my redemption story with Carol Roper on her podcast, Building Strong Homes.

I once read, “don’t share your stories because you want people to like you. Share them because there are people like you.” This story will bring you hope if:

  • You have been in the middle of a difficult marriage where conflict was avoided at all costs due to an anticipated response.
  • You are lost in the post-divorce dating game, blind-sided by one disappointment after another.
  • You are in a post-divorce relationship that looks pretty much like the broken marriage you left.
  • You are looking for what you won’t find outside of Jesus.
  • You need to know there is another option to reach abundant life other than what the world is selling you.
  • You need to know Jesus is who He says He is and in the middle of your broken up mess, He’s there, waiting for you to ask for His help.
  • You’ve come to the end of yourself.

The Fully Restored Podcast with Author Kristin Clouse

In the fall of 2021, I had the opportunity to share my story of restoration with Kristin Clouse. Kristen is a counselor, pastor, published author, and trauma and life coach. She is the founder of The Restore Movement, where she leads women into freedom and healing, a close personal walk with Christ, and into the fullness of who God created each to be.

Led by Kristin’s kindness and grace, my interview with her is transparent and vulnerable. It will bring hope to those who have endured a long season of brokenness, and a reminder that no one is beyond restoration.
